Conceived on a cross-channel ferry from Funkfordshire, Mat Playford and Tom Gray aka Weirdo Police are from a planet, far, far away. Made up of two insane humanoids with cosmic music skills, Weirdo Police have been brought to Earth to bring some spice back into the music scene. With brilliant releases on Redux, Lo Recordings, and Bearfunk Records - ‘Electro Cretin’ featured on Greg Wilson’s mix for dance music pioneers 20/20 Vision in late 2008 – a great endorsement.
Weirdo will cause carnage in any discotheque in the form of decks-and-FX shows featuring synths, samplers, guitars and a healthy slice of DIY funktitude - rocking parties from Ibiza to Leeds via Italy. DJ Gigs in 2008 have been at Lunar Jam (Leeds), The Ocean Rooms (Brighton), Brighton Beach Down Festival, Bestival, The Social (London), amongst many others.
More releases are due in 2009, along with a remix for Findlay Brown in March - Weirdo are ready and waiting for any insanity that comes their way!
